Machines apt to carry out works on pieces of steel of medium size. For example, you can make holes and remove metal with extremely high precision. Generally they can operate on three Cartesian axes in normal mode or with numerical control. The latest generation of boring machines are equipped with rotary tables and tool cribs controlled by CNC, that facilitate work by means of programming through the numerical control. Boring machines can be divided in sub categories according to the movement of the mandrel mounted on the column: if this moves they are named mobile column, if the column is fixed they can be defined horizontal.
